Are you one of those people in the Upper Midwest where you just got four and a half feet of snow in the first week of March? You’re freezing, shoveling snow, and are just flat out sick of the cold?

Well, it’s 65 degrees and sunny outside my window! So, if you’re dreaming of living somewhere sunny and thinking about moving to San Diego, keep watching this video because we’re going to explore a few of the best neighborhoods in San Diego that show you why this is truly America’s Finest City.

Let’s go!

The Best Neighborhoods in San Diego

1. Pacific Beach

First up, we have Pacific Beach. Now, if you ask me, this is the crown jewel of San Diego.

Some people might argue that La Jolla, Del Mar, or some of these other areas are the best; but for me, I knew from the first time I visited Pacific Beach at 14 that I was going to live there someday. And I now do!

Pacific Beach is known for its surfing and its restaurants. It’s got a lively bar scene, a popular boardwalk, a bunch of parks (just Google “Belmont Park San Diego” - it has a roller coaster. Enough said.), and Mission Bay, where you can jet ski, boat, swim, and do all kinds of fun water activities.

So, if you’re into outdoorsy activities, a lively nightlife scene, and beach vibes, Pacific Beach may be the place for you! And if you prefer a more quiet environment, Pacific Beach has that, too: check out the north side of Pacific Beach or Crown Point (that’s where I live!).

2. North Park

Another beloved neighborhood in San Diego is North Park (and I’ll go ahead and include South Park and Bankers Hill with that - this is what’s known as the metro area!).

The metro area is awesome because it’s home to a bunch of really eclectic shops and restaurants. It’s got a ton of character, from authentic craftsman homes to modern townhouses and apartment buildings.

It’s home to Balboa Park, which is the largest urban cultural center in the United States. It’s got museums, flower gardens, beautiful views of the city, grassy areas, Balboa Park, trendy bars and breweries, and art walks.

There’s just a wonderful sense of community in this area and there’s a ton of stuff to do,

3. Hillcrest

Hillcrest is an area of San Diego that’s well known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ community. They have a really special sense of community, and they put on a bunch of great community events including Hillcrest City Fest.

There are a ton of excellent dining options and bars, and it’s centrally located close to downtown, the airport, North Park, and the beaches.

Hillcrest is a fun and lively place to be, and perfect for foodies, nightlife lovers, and people who are looking for a strong sense of community in their neighborhood.

4. Del Mar

And last but not least, we have Del Mar! Del Mar is home to the Del Mar Racetrack and the annual county fair.

It’s a really interesting community in that it’s upscale with a laid-back vibe. You’ll find high-end shops and restaurants here, but you’ll also experience a chill, beachy environment.

It’s worth mentioning that the real estate you’ll find here will be priced higher than the average property in San Diego, but if you’re the type of person who is looking for something a little luxurious and elevated with a laid-back personality, Del Mar may be your new home.

No matter what you’re looking for, San Diego has it.

I think San Diego is the best city ever. It truly has something for everyone.

I only touched on four of the dozens of awesome neighborhoods San Diego has to offer. So, whether you are looking for an upscale area, a vibrant nightlife scene, a strong sense of community, a beachy surfer vibe, or even a more rural environment where you can raise cows and chickens, San Diego has a neighborhood for you.

So, if you’re looking out your window right now and it’s under 30 degrees in March, give us a call. We’d be happy to help you start your San Diego home shopping adventure!

For everyone else, I hope this was helpful! See you in my next one!
